Education software giant PowerSchool has confirmed it suffered a cybersecurity incident that allowed a threat actor to steal the personal information of students and teachers from school districts using its PowerSchool SIS platform.

The student data was compromised through PowerSchool could include names, social security numbers, birthdates and contact information. PowerSchool provides a platform to assist districts with enrollment, communication, attendance and learning management. In total, the program provides the service for more than 60 million students.
