Kohl's says it plans to close 27 of its more than 1,150 locations by April. The 66 locations Macy's announced are among the 150 it's closing as part of its "Bold New Chapter" initiative "designed to return the company to sustainable, profitable sales growth."

The Statesman Journal reported on the closure last week. Macy's corporate office did not respond to questions, but a list of closures released on Jan. 9 confirmed the closure of the Salem location, along with 65 other Macy's stores throughout the country.

Kohl's and Macy's are closing dozens of stores across the country in coming weeks. A map shows which Texas locations will be impacted by the closures.
