The Washington State Department of Transportation is warning drivers of numerous substantial closures in western Washington this weekend.

A WSDOT spokesperson said this will be the biggest weekend of construction-related closures for the entire year.

Highway 520 will close all weekend in both directions, including the walk-bike trail, from I-5 in Seattle to 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill, from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will work on lighting and fire suppression under the new Montlake lid.

“The closures could be a monster for drivers if they don’t prepare and map out their weekend travels around the region,” WSDOT said in a news release. A complete closure of I-5 between state Route 18 in Federal Way and 54th Avenue East will occur both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Fiesta DC Festival in Washington, DC will cause road closures and parking restrictions on September 28-29, 2024.

Road closures are still in place this fall on Interstate 43 as part of the north-south reconstruction project between Silver Spring Drive and Highway 60.
