The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday rejected a Canadian report accusing India of interfering in Canada's elections. While the report claimed "foreign interference" did not alter the results, it suggested it eroded public trust.

The Canadian government was slow in responding to efforts by China and India to interfere in the country's elections but their outcome was unaffected by the meddling, an official probe said in a final report released on Tuesday.

An inquiry into foreign interference in Canada’s recent elections is calling on intelligence agencies and the federal government to urgently reform how they respond to meddling by China, India and other state actors before the next national vote.

India-Canada ties: "We reject the report’s insinuations on India and expect that the support system enabling illegal migration will not be further countenanced," said the MEA.

In a strong-worded statement, India rejected a Canadian report alleging that the Indian government interfered in Canada's elections. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that it is in fact Canada which has been consistently interfering in India's internal affairs.
