WASHINGTON - D.C. police are investigating a triple shooting that took place early Sunday morning. It happened near Howard University’s campus amid the school’s homecoming weekend. All three victims are expected to be ok but students say they were shaken by the incident.

Howard University is celebrating its 100th homecoming and with thousands of people expected to be in attendance this weekend, safety is a top priority. Every year, 60 to 70 thousand people come out to Howard’s homecoming to celebrate.

"Homecoming has always been, for 100 years, an economic boost to the city. We think it will bring in millions in hospitality, food revenue and sales," Princess Gamble, Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Development and Alumni Relations at Howard University told 7News.
