Verizon appears to be facing a massive outage, affecting customers across the U.S. On Monday, Sept. 30, many Verizon users found that their smartphones are stuck in SOS mode. This means that their device does not have cellular service and can only make emergency service calls.

Thousands of users across the nation reported Verizon outages Monday morning. Why it matters: More than 98,000 reports of Verizon outages have been submitted in the last 24 hours, per Downdetector. Zoom out: Users nationwide began reporting outages early Monday across several cities, including Chicago, Atlanta and Phoenix.

Verizon outages are being reported across the country, including in Cincinnati. According to downdetector.com, the most reported locations include Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Omaha, Minneapolis, Columbus and Seattle. As of 11 a.m., there have been more than 97,000 reports of outages.
