Rangers secure an invaluable victory in their Europa League opener in Malmo as they earn a first-ever win on Swedish soil.

Fenerbahçe and Rangers kicked off with three points, as did Tottenham Hotspur despite playing 82 minutes with ten men, but Ajax were the biggest winners of Matchday 1.

Rangers have won the opening game of the Europa League 2-0 away to Malmo. A first minute goal from Nadim Bajrami set Rangers on the path to victory straight away, and Philippe Clement’s side were vastly superior. Ross McCausland made the score 2-0 in the second half. Rangers were good enough to have won by four or five.

Rangers made a storming start to their Europa League campaign with a 2-0 win over Malmo in Sweden which should have been more emphatic. Midfielder Nedim Bajrami scored his first goal for the Ibrox club in less than a minute and Philippe Clement’s side passed up several chances to add a second before the interval.

It has been absolutely pelting down all day in Malmo as Rangers prepare for their opening Europa League fixture here in Sweden. Thankfully it appears to be subsiding as we approach kick off. If not, my laptop will be toast come half-time.
