The Ada County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened on Tuesday evening at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex. There is no threat to the public.

The incident had nothing to do with any activities at the athletic fields, and there’s no threat to public safety.

The coroner identified the man Wednesday afternoon as Lucas Alleman, 43, of Star. Alleman was pronounced dead at the scene after deputies attempted life-saving measures, according to the Sheriff’s Office, which said he produced a handgun, prompting two deputies to fire their weapons.
