State police say the driver of the Hyundai was heading southbound on I-75 and ran into the back of a semi-truck. Due to the impact, the Hyundai driver lost control, and crashed into a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica that was being driven by a 33-year-old Warren man, who had three passengers in the car with him.

The pursuit started after a sheriff's deputy tried to stop the man for a traffic offense in the area of North Dixie Highway and Sandy Creek Road in Monroe Saturday night.

A Monroe County deputy was hospitalized after crashing their police vehicle into a river in a police chase Saturday night, as authorities pursued and ultimately arrested a drunk driving suspect.
