The NHL-leading Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Logan Thompson to a six-year contract extension worth $35.1 million. Thompson will count $5.85 million against the salary cap from when the new deal kicks in next season through 2030-31.

Logan Thompson knew that leaving the Vegas Golden Knights behind wouldn't be easy, but it was a necessary step to push his career forward. It landed him with the Washington Capitals, who have proven to be the perfect fit — and will now remain home for the long haul.
