The Calgary Flames have trimmed their training camp roster by eight players in the first round of cuts made earlier today.

The Calgary Flames started to whittle their training-camp roster Tuesday, reassigning seven teenage prospects to the junior ranks. Travel will be a breeze for Axel Hurtig. The 19-year-old defenceman is staying put in Calgary to skate for the Western Hockey League’s Hitmen.

The New Jersey Devils have made their first round of training camps. Typically, the first cuts at an NHL training camp are the players who are being sent back to the CHL, this is the case for the Devils cut today.
