South Korean authorities have granted a request to extend a warrant to detain the country’s suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol for questioning over his surprise declaration of martial law last month.

Hundreds of South Koreans rallied overnight into Sunday near the residence of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, calling for his ouster and arrest.

Amid economic fragility, public unrest is growing, with citizens split between calls for impeachment and support for Yoon’s presidency.
