Another Democratic candidate has emerged for next year’s attorney general election in Virginia, as incumbent Republican state Attorney General Jason Miyares has yet to announce if he will run for reelection.

Jay Jones, a former Democratic state delegate from Norfolk, announced his plan to run again for Virginia attorney general. “As your attorney general, I will protect Virginia families, our children, and the most vulnerable,

Jones said on Tuesday that the current Attorney General, Jason Miyares, "used his office to advance his own radical ideological agenda, not protect Virginians."

Former local delegate Jay Jones has announced he is officially running for Attorney General of Virginia. Jones launched his campaign Tuesday morning, promising to fight for Virginia’s families and to take “extreme politics” out of the Attorney Generals office.
