It's official - Ubisoft's beleaguered Splinter Cell movie has been cancelled. As reported by The Direct, the movie - which was announced over a decade ago and was set to star Tom Hardy - has been canned because the production team "just couldn't get it right".

Today, there are probably few who even remember it or have any expectations left, but in 2012 it was revealed that Splinter Cell would be made into a movie. The following year, it was confirmed that John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk would be in charge of production, and in 2014 it was announced that Tom Hardy would play Sam Fisher.

Ubisoft's Splinter Cell movie adaptation has been cancelled, according to one of the film's producers. As reported by The Direct, producer Basil Iwanyk confirmed the adaptation was no longer in production. Iwanyk signed on to the film in 2013.
