Argentina secure a dramatic win against South Africa to stop the world champions from winning the Rugby Championship title with a game to spare.

Argentina has kept its hopes of winning the Rugby Championship alive by edging world champion South Africa 29-28 to temporarily deny the Springboks their first title since 2019.

Manie Libbok’s missed penalty with a minute remaining meant that Argentina continued their excellent Rugby Championship campaign by adding a win over South Africa to their record victory over Australia and triumph in New Zealand earlier in the tournament.

Argentina have made three changes to their squad, with Joaquin Oviedo being named in the starting 15 after his performance off the bench against Australia last time out. In the second row, Pedro Rubiolo and Franco Molina step in as the starting locks, replacing Guido Petti and Tomas Lavanini.

A group still led by Pablo Matera will have to match South Africa today. The visitors are without four of their regular starting five at the back of the scrum - if Argentina can get on top of that remodelled group at the breakdown and dominate the lineout, a shock could very well be on the cards.
