Jota broke down in tears after scoring on his Celtic return in the Hoops' 3-1 away win against Motherwell. It was only 18 months ago that Jota left Celtic in a £25 million move to join Al-Ittihad. He spent a year there and if rumours are accurate then he earned multiple times more than he would have in Glasgow.

Jota capped his return to the Celtic team with a goal in the closing seconds as Brendan Rodgers’ side won 3-1 at Motherwell. Rodgers had cautioned that the Portuguese winger would need time to build up his strength and fitness after returning to the club from Rennes on Monday.

Jota returns for a reported fee of £9m and has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Scottish champions. During his first spell at the club, the 25-year-old won every domestic honour available to him and scored 28 goals and provided 26 assists. He is being tipped to wear the number 23 jersey on his return.

It was Jota who had the last word as the Hoops hero bundled home a late clincher on his second Celtic debut before milking the acclaim of his devoted fanbase.
