The celebrations at the prize distribution, where Tania Sachdev and Gukesh recreated the iconic Lionel Messi walk proved how much both teams wanted the gold medals.

Both the Indian men's and women's teams scripted history on Sunday, winning their maiden gold medals in the Chess Olympiad in Hungary.

At just 18, D. Gukesh is already World No. 7. Gukesh led India to victory at the 2024 Olympiad with stunning wins against top players like Fabiano Caruana and Wei Yi. His consistent performance at the top board makes him a strong contender for the upcoming World Championship.

The gold medal in Chess Olympiad 2024 is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. He expressed his ambition for India to achieve even greater heights in the world of chess.
