7-Eleven — like many restaurant chains — is also feeling the pinch from inflation, with sales slipping and store traffic dipping 7.3% in August 2024. In response, the company lowered its U.S. profit forecast and announced closures aimed at improving operating income by $30 million this year and adding $110 million to its annual run rate.

Over 400 underperforming 7-Eleven stores in the U.S. will close by the end of the year, the company announced during its most recent earnings call. The 444 stores to close are among 13,000 stores the convenience chain has in the U.

It looks like a tough bump in the road for 7-Eleven. Seven & i Holdings, the parent company of the convenience store chain, announced this week that it would be closing more than 400 stores throughout the country, according to a report in USA Today.

Eleven President and CEO Joe DePinto announced during a Thursday, Oct. 10 earnings call that it will close 444 stores across the U.S. and Canada.

The parent company of 7-eleven said that the 444 stores marked for closure out of the 13,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada were “underperforming.”

Eleven plans to close 444 stores in North America, but did not indicate if any on the list would be in Michigan.
